About this tool
Flipping mirrors an image along an axis: horizontal flip swaps left and right, vertical flip swaps top and bottom, and combining both is equivalent to a 180° rotation but keeps the mirrored (not just rotated) composition.
This is useful for correcting a selfie that reads backwards, preparing an image for a design that needs a mirrored version, or fixing an inconsistent orientation across a set of photos.
Unlike rotation, flipping never changes an image's width or height — only the arrangement of pixels within that same canvas size.
Frequently asked questions
Rotating turns an image around a point, changing its orientation but keeping the same left-to-right reading direction. Flipping mirrors it along an axis, reversing that direction — text in a flipped image would read backwards.
