About this tool

YouTube's recommended video thumbnail size is 1280×720 pixels (a 16:9 ratio), with a minimum width of 640 pixels and a 2MB file size limit — undersized or oddly-cropped thumbnails can look blurry or off-center in search results and suggested videos.

A channel banner is much larger (2560×1440) because YouTube crops it differently across TV, desktop and mobile — the "safe area" that reliably shows on every device is smaller than the full image, so keeping important content centered matters more than for a thumbnail.

This tool never stretches your image to fit a preset. "Fill" scales up and crops evenly to cover the exact target size; "Fit" keeps the entire image visible and pads the rest — pick Fit for a banner if you need to guarantee nothing important gets cropped.
