About this tool
Numbers are added as real text on each page, in the standard Helvetica font, about 10 mm from the edge you choose. The rest of the document — text, images, links and form fields — is left untouched, so the file isn't re-rendered or reduced in quality.
Many PDFs, especially scans, contain pages stored sideways with a rotation flag. This tool works out how each page actually appears on screen and places the number accordingly, so it sits upright in the right corner even on rotated or landscape pages — a detail many simpler tools get wrong.
Skip the first page for a cover, and set a starting number to continue numbering from another document (for example, starting at 25 for the second half of a report). The whole process happens in your browser; the PDF isn't uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. Tick "Don't number the first page" and numbering begins on the second page, starting from whatever number you set — usually 1 or 2.
