CPM Calculator

Calculate CPM (cost per mille — the cost of 1,000 ad impressions), or use a known CPM to work out what a campaign will cost or how many impressions your budget buys.

CPM = cost ÷ impressions × 1,000. Ad platforms may count impressions differently (for example, viewable vs served), so use the figures from the same report.

About this tool

CPM stands for cost per mille — mille is Latin for thousand. It's the standard way to price display, video, social and podcast advertising, because it lets you compare campaigns of very different sizes. The formula is CPM = cost ÷ impressions × 1,000.

Example: spending $100 for 50,000 impressions gives a CPM of $100 ÷ 50,000 × 1,000 = $2. Working backwards, a $2 CPM means a $500 budget buys 250,000 impressions, and 1 million impressions would cost $2,000.

CPM only measures how cheaply you reach people, not whether they act. Pair it with click-through rate, CPC and conversion rate to judge performance, and make sure impressions and cost come from the same report — platforms may count served, viewable or unique impressions differently.
