About this tool
Text copied from PDFs, emails or web pages often carries extra spaces, tabs and blank lines that look fine visually but cause problems when the text is used in code, spreadsheets or data imports.
The first three modes work line by line, preserving line breaks while cleaning up spacing within and around each line — useful when the structure of your text still matters. "Remove ALL whitespace" is more aggressive: it strips every space, tab and line break from the entire text, collapsing it into one continuous string, which is rarely what you want for readable prose but can be useful for certain data-cleaning tasks.
Frequently asked questions
Trim lines only removes leading and trailing whitespace on each line. Collapse spaces does that too, and also reduces any run of multiple spaces or tabs within a line down to a single space.
