UUID Generator

Generate one or many version 4 UUIDs using your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator — ideal for database keys, test data and unique identifiers.

Everything you enter is processed in your browser and isn't sent to our servers.

How to use uuid generator

  1. 1Pick a preset amount, or enter a custom number of UUIDs.
  2. 2Copy an individual UUID, or copy the whole list at once.
  3. 3Click Regenerate for a fresh batch at any time.

About this tool

A UUID (universally unique identifier) is a 128-bit value formatted as a string like 8f14e45f-ceea-467e-9575-e5f7c8e3b6a2, designed to be unique across systems without needing a central authority to assign it.

Version 4 UUIDs are generated from random bits rather than a timestamp or hardware address. This tool uses crypto.randomUUID() where available, and falls back to manually constructing a version 4 UUID from crypto.getRandomValues() otherwise — both are backed by your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, never the predictable Math.random().

Custom batch sizes are capped to keep the page responsive, since generating an extremely large number of UUIDs at once has little practical use for most workflows.

Frequently asked questions

Practically, yes. A version 4 UUID has 122 random bits, making the chance of two independently generated UUIDs colliding astronomically small — far lower than the odds of a hardware failure.
