Hash Generator
Generate SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 hashes of any text, computed with your browser's built-in Web Crypto API.
SHA-256
—SHA-384
—SHA-512
—Hashing is one-way and not encryption — a hash can't be decrypted back into the original text, and it's meant for integrity checks and lookups, not for keeping data secret.
Everything you enter is processed in your browser and isn't sent to our servers.
How to use hash generator
- 1Type or paste text into the input box.
- 2SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 hashes are computed automatically as you type.
- 3Copy any of the resulting hex-encoded hashes.
About this tool
A hash function takes an input of any size and produces a fixed-length string of characters — a "digest" — that acts as a fingerprint of that input. Changing even a single character in the input produces a completely different hash.
These hashes are commonly used to verify that a file or piece of text hasn't been altered, to index data efficiently, or to check that two values match without comparing the raw values directly.
Hashing happens using the SubtleCrypto interface of the Web Crypto API, a browser-native implementation of these algorithms — no external library is loaded, and your text never leaves the page.
Frequently asked questions
No. Encryption is reversible with the right key; hashing is one-way and cannot be reversed to recover the original text. Hashes are useful for integrity checks and lookups, not for keeping information secret.
