Salary Calculator

Turn an hourly rate into an annual salary, or a yearly salary into hourly, weekly or monthly pay — all before tax, based on the hours and weeks you actually work.

52 if holidays are paid; fewer for unpaid time off.

Gross pay only — before income tax, National Insurance, Social Security, pension or any other deductions, which vary by country and personal circumstances. Monthly figures are annual pay ÷ 12 (not four weeks), and biweekly assumes 26 pay periods in a 52-week year.

About this tool

Every figure is converted through an annual amount. An hourly rate becomes annual pay by multiplying by hours per week and paid weeks per year; an annual salary becomes hourly by dividing by the same total. With the standard 40 hours × 52 weeks, $25 an hour is $52,000 a year, $1,000 a week and about $4,333 a month.

Monthly pay is always annual pay ÷ 12. That's slightly more than four weeks' pay, because most months are longer than four weeks. Biweekly (every two weeks, called fortnightly in the UK and Australia) is two weeks' pay, which gives 26 pay periods a year.

These are gross figures — before income tax, Social Security, National Insurance, superannuation or pension contributions, and any other deductions. Take-home pay depends on your country, tax code and circumstances, so this tool deliberately doesn't estimate it rather than risk an inaccurate figure.

Frequently asked questions

Multiply the hourly rate by your hours per week, then by the number of paid weeks per year. At 40 hours and 52 weeks that's hourly rate × 2,080 — so $20/hour is $41,600 a year.
