About this tool

This calculator finds the calendar-accurate gap between two dates, useful for anything from project timelines and contract terms to counting down to an event or measuring how long ago something happened.

Total days and total weeks give a straightforward numeric view of the gap, while the business days option counts only Monday-through-Friday days in the range — handy for estimating working time, though it doesn't account for public holidays, which vary by region.

If the end date comes before the start date, the calculator doesn't error out — it shows the difference between the two regardless of order, with a note explaining that the dates were reversed, and a swap button to flip them if that wasn't intended.

Need a day counter that includes both dates? The inclusive figures count the start and end dates themselves — 1 to 7 January is 7 days inclusive but 6 days between — and split that range into weekdays (Monday to Friday) and weekend days (Saturday and Sunday). Public holidays aren't removed; the Business Days Calculator lets you exclude specific dates.

Frequently asked questions

The calculator still shows the difference between the two dates rather than showing an error, along with a note that the order was reversed. Use the swap button to put them back in start-then-end order if you'd prefer.
