Final Grade Calculator
Find out exactly what score you need on your final exam to reach a target grade in the course, based on your current grade and the exam's weight.
Formula: required final score = (desired grade − current grade × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight
You'd need 101.7% on the final, which is above 100% — not mathematically achievable through the final exam alone (extra credit or grade adjustments aside).

About this tool
This calculator reverse-solves the standard weighted-grade formula: your target grade equals your current grade times the non-final portion of the course, plus your final exam score times the final's weight. Rearranging that equation for the final exam score gives the number you need.
Two edge cases are handled explicitly rather than shown as a plain number: if the required score comes out above 100%, that target isn't mathematically reachable through the final exam alone, and the calculator says so instead of just displaying "104%." If your current grade already meets or exceeds your target regardless of the final, it says that too.
Check your course syllabus for the exact final exam weight before relying on this — that figure needs to match your actual grading breakdown for the result to be meaningful.
Frequently asked questions
That means your target grade isn't achievable through the final exam alone, given your current grade and the exam's weight — the calculator states this directly rather than showing a misleading number above 100%.
