GPA Calculator

Add each course's grade and credit hours to calculate your GPA. Uses the common 4.0 scale by default, or enter custom grade-point values for a different scale.

Course (optional)GradeGrade pointsCreditsRemove

Uses the common 4.0 scale shown in the Grade column (A = 4.0 down to F = 0.0). If your school uses a different scale, type its grade-point values directly into the Grade points column — the calculator uses whatever number is there.

About this tool

GPA (grade point average) is the credit-weighted average of your grade points across all courses: multiply each course's grade points by its credit hours, add those up, then divide by the total credit hours.

This calculator defaults to the common US 4.0 scale (A = 4.0 down to F = 0.0), shown in the Grade column. Schools that use a different scale — a 5.0 weighted scale, a percentage-based system, or a national equivalent — can still use this tool by typing the correct grade-point value directly into the Grade points column instead of relying on the letter dropdown.

This tool makes no claims about any specific university's GPA policy, rounding rules, or how repeated or excluded courses should be handled — always check your own institution's official calculation if the result needs to match your transcript exactly.

Frequently asked questions

The letter-grade dropdown uses the common US 4.0 scale (A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, down to F = 0.0). You can override this for any course by typing a different value directly into the Grade points column.
