About this tool
A weighted grade multiplies each assignment's score by its weight and adds the results together: a 90% score worth 20% of the grade contributes 18 percentage points, for example.
When your weights add up to exactly 100%, that total is your current course grade. When they don't — which is normal mid-semester, since ungraded assignments haven't been weighted in yet — the total only reflects the portion of the course graded so far, not a complete final grade.
This calculator never silently rescales an incomplete total into a fake "final grade." If you want to see what your current work projects to on a full 100% basis, an explicit toggle shows that separately, clearly labeled as a projection rather than your actual current grade.
Frequently asked questions
This just means some of your coursework isn't graded yet — for example, if only homework (20%) and a midterm (30%) have grades so far, your weights total 50%, and the result shown is your grade on that 50% of the course, not a complete final grade.
