About this tool
This reads the QR code's raw pixel data directly from the image you upload and decodes it locally using a JavaScript QR decoding library — the image itself is never sent anywhere.
Decoded content is always shown as plain text, even if it's a URL. This is deliberate: automatically opening a link from a QR code you haven't verified is a well-known way people get tricked into visiting a malicious site (sometimes called "quishing"). You can review the decoded link before deciding whether to open it yourself.
Frequently asked questions
No, never. The decoded content — including anything that looks like a URL — is always shown as plain text for you to review and copy, not opened automatically. This protects against malicious QR codes designed to redirect you somewhere unexpected.
